LISMA will build a factory in the Federal Republic of Nigeria
The creation of lighting production in the territory of the African state became the main topic of the meeting of the General Director of LISMA Igor Konstantinov with the Executive Governor of Enugu State Lawrence Ifeani Ugwuani. The Development Director of LISMA Sergei Ermakov and the CEO of the Enugu State Investment Development Authority Chibuzor Okafor also became participants of this meeting.
Mr. Ugwuanyi confirmed the serious intentions of the business and government of the largest Nigerian state regarding cooperation with a Russian company.
“We guarantee full support,” he said. “Light sources are basic goods. All our lighting equipment is imported; lamps are imported from China, India, England. The appearance of the first production of lighting products in the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be an important milestone in the history of the State. These are jobs for the local population, the strengthening of economy and increasing of the well-being of state residents. The Federal Republic of Nigeria is one of the richest countries in Africa, which has opportunities and a great desire to take the path of industrial development. I am sure that you will become a reliable partner”.
Mr. Ugwuanyi also emphasized that he would be very happy if other companies from Mordovia and Russia follow the example of LISMA. Among the particularly interesting topics, he noted cable production, electricity conversion, agricultural processing. State authorities are ready to provide land with the necessary infrastructure, provide tax and other economic preferences.
“We consider cooperation with Africa to be a very promising and strategically important area of business development,” said Igor Konstantinov. - The enterprise already has a successfully implemented project in the territory of the African Continent - last year the joint production of lamps in Burundi was launched. Therefore, we start working in Nigeria with higher level of competencies and wide experience.
Igor Konstantinov invited Lawrence Igvuani to attend the Russia-Africa summit, to be held in October in Sochi; Mr. Igvuanyi replied that he would gladly accept the official invitation to the summit from the Head of the Republic of Mordovia, Vladimir Volkov. He also expressed readiness to discuss the organization of business missions to strengthen interaction between the regions. The General Director of "LISMA" undertook to bring this information to the Head of Mordovia.
It should be added that, before the reception, the Executive Governor of Enugu state held a meeting with the leadership of LISMA and with potential investors, representatives of business and banking structures of Enugu state. The host party showed the land with the necessary communications, allocated for future production. The production of incandescent lamps, gas-discharge lamps and luminaires on the base of solar panels is discussed. At present, a Memorandum is being prepared, which will regulate the terms of cooperation, the amount of funding and the terms. The document is planned to be signed before the end of the visit of the delegation of LISMA to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
